Need A Nurse Guidelines

These guidelines contain the professional standards that Need A Nurse Dental Recruitment Agency expects our nurses to uphold.

Need A Nurse Dental Recruitment Agency is the sole judge of what is, and what is not, appropriate behaviour for the purposes of this policy.

These guidelines are not exhaustive in defining acceptable standards and nurses should use common sense in order to adhere to the principles underpinning these guidelines.

If any nurse is in any doubt whether any aspect of their behaviour is appropriate for the purpose of these guidelines, they should seek guidance from Karima on 07515079390.

All nurses should familiarise themselves with these guidelines and must comply with the rules set out in it. These guidelines do not form part of any contract of services with you or otherwise have contractual effect.

Need A Nurse Dental Recruitment Agency reserves the right to make changes to these guidelines from time to time.

The values and principles set out in these guidelines are fundamental to being part of Need A Nurse Dental Recruitment Agency. Failure to comply with these guidelines may result in Need A Nurse Dental Recruitment Agency taking action against you including but not limited to terminating our relationship with you.

Dress code and appearance

Need A Nurse Dental Recruitment Agency recognises the importance of maintaining a professional image while promoting a safe and healthy work environment and therefore we require all nurses on assignment to comply with the following:

● Hair should be neat and tidy and long hair should be tied back.

● Nurses should have clean, short fingernails (no varnish or extensions).

● Nurses should wear short-sleeve tunics with black trousers or scrubs on assignment. Any

tunics or scrubs must be plain with no visible logos or branding (including any logos or

branding of other dental agencies or practices).

● All PPE is provided by the dental practice for the assignment.

Conduct on assignment

● Nurses are expected to arrive up to 15 minutes before the start time of any assignment to allow for any traffic or other disruptions whilst commuting to your assignment.

● Be polite, professional and friendly at all times.

● If it’s your first time at a dental practice, introduce yourself to the duty manager/head

nurse/principal dentist, for example, “Hi/Good morning, my name is... I’m the locum dental

nurse who’s covering today.”

● Need A Nurse Dental Recruitment Agency does not expect you to be using your phone whilst

on assignment unless on a break. If you need to use your phone in case of an emergency,

please do so discreetly (i.e. not in front of patients or in public areas).

● At the start of an assignment, it is your responsibility to ask the dental practice manager or

lead nurse:

○ Which surgery you’ll be in and who you’ll be working with for your day list

○ Where the fire exits are

○ Where the emergency drugs kit is kept

○ Where the decon room is

○ How to process X-rays

● At the end of an assignment:

○ Always check with the duty manager/head nurse/principal dentist that everything is

done before you get changed and leave

○ Always try to leave on a positive note, for example, “Thanks for having me”, “Thanks

for choosing to book your cover with us”, “Let us know if you need any cover in the future” or “Hopefully see you again soon”

Compliance documents and timesheets

● Please have a copy of your compliance documents readily available for each assignment (such as saved on your phone) as some dental practices may ask to see them before you start an assignment.

● A template timesheet has been provided to you and this must be completed for each assignment and sent to Karima via WhatsApp at the end of each assignment.

● All of the required information must be included in the timesheet and failure to provide a properly completed timesheet by the date above will result in late payment.

Pay and expenses

● All of our nurses’ pay arrangements are to remain confidential. Please do not discuss your hourly rate with any other agency nurses (whether a nurse of Need A Nurse Dental Recruitment Agency or another agency) or with anyone at the dental practices to which you supply temporary work.

 ● We believe you should be rewarded for forming successful long-term relationships with dental practices. To reward your success, after your first 10 assignments with a dental practice, your hourly rate can be increased. Once you have completed 10 assignments with a dental practice, contact Karima to request a rate increase.

● Need A Nurse Dental Recruitment Agency does not reimburse any travel (including travelling to or from as assignment) or parking expenses. Such costs are your own responsibility unless otherwise agreed in writing. You are liable for all taxes and insurance associated with maintaining any transport equipment such as a car.

● Need A Nurse Dental Recruitment Agency reserves the right to recover from you (including withholding or deducting an equivalent sum from any pay owing to you) if items provided to you by us are not returned within 1 month of the termination of our contract with you. Deductions include but are not limited to:

○ Uniform £100

○ Business Cards £20

○ Mug £10
